I would not recommend this place for any youth tournaments. $7 per day to park, when there is ample parking to go around? That's just the Dells establishments continuing to nickle and dime visitors. The dome either has no AC or not enough AC, it was brutally hot and humid in there this past weekend for the volleyball tournament, if we're going to be charged $8 per day admittance I would expect some AC at least.
This place is a rip off. Three day tournament could have easily been done in two days. Why three days then? Because they charge you $7 for parking (each day), $8 admission for each person (each day) and over priced gutter quality food. In addition to this it was BOILING in both the dome and even worse the lounge area. Complained to the facility manager and he said (with a big smile on his face and no apology) there was only one AC unit in the dome and because of the crowd coming in and out of the doors all the cool air was escaping the lounge. Total BS - took ZERO responsibility. There was ZERO proof that the air was even on in the lounge. Did they not design the place for tournaments when all they have are tournaments? No semi intelligent person would design a Dome with one AC unit. Hope we never go back.
Here for volleyball. 16 courts. Can be over over stimulating. Wish we had one where I live though. Good multi use building
Very large facility; I have been for softball and volleyball tournaments. The building seems much older than it really is. Basically beat up banquet tables and chairs in the food/waiting area. The food is basic ball park food, over priced and pretty bland. They do have an upstairs area that sells a Coors and Miller Lite. You can get a bucket of beers and go embarrass your kids!
It seems many navigation systems have problems finding it; punch in Chula Vista resort and the center is about 2 miles south of that.
The tournament area is very nice for softball but very compact for volleyball. Be very aware during warm-up times, you will get hit at some point. The surface for softball is a rolled out heavy foam mat. It stays nicely in place but makes for a much different game than a standard dirt/grass field; everything moves even faster on this and bounces much higher. For volleyball that have a snap together floor that was very nice.
Parking is $5 per day per vehicle and the entry fees are usually $6/day or $10 for two days.
Good place for a wrestling tournament except not enough parking. Plus bathrooms are in only one location and the place is huge, if at the far end, better hope you don't get a "Gotta go " moment! Parking sucks! Not nearly enough and you get charged to park. Food court is overpriced for average quality food. Plus, the place is freezing early in the day and roasting by the afternoon. Would be nice to have better temperature control.
