Cool spot to visit while in the Dells. Hours are confusing online but they are open until 4 p.m., on the weekends. It's nice to have places like this to show the kids.
We have taken out kids and now our grandkids over the last 20 years and always have a great time. Friendly and well informed staff.
We kinda expected a larger train, but we had a nice relaxing ride. Away from all the hustle and bustle of tourist central. The ride was about an hour in length, enjoying the veiw of rock strata, ravines, trees and a brief view of the river. We seen a very young deer along the way. It's a not for profit operation ran by volunteers. We had a $2 a ticket discount coupon which was offered by the KOA for a total of $10 for adults and $6 for kids under 12 years old per ticket, but there also is a coupon available for $1 discount on their website.
This is a relaxing three mile round trip (1.5 miles there and back) trip through the forest. There is a cute train Depot where you buy your tickets and wait for the train. The conductors are mostly volunteers, but are very passionate and knowledgeable about the track and the train. I recommend this for kids up to middle School age.
This is a stand by for our family. We love supporting the railroad and going for a little train ride. Very informative each time and we learn something different each time. Great for the train lover.
